So I saw a female production of Hamlet the other night, anyone else seen it? like it? The night I was there was packed, so someone here must have!

I thought it was great, though I didn't expect to! They've set it in the middle east somewhere - not all modern and political luckily, but it gives a good setting for the physicality and they obviously really thought through the world carefully. Even down to the beautiful puppets they use for the players.

Hamlet is brilliant (Sian Robins-Grace, I think it said her first London show, but you wouldn't guess), and the rest of the cast are excellent too. All really interesting to watch both as the wives in their harem and also as they play the characters in Hamlet. Obvious, but if they weren't all so good the all female thing would have really bothered me - as it was though I think you get a very different slant on the characters than you might with men, much subtler, and somehow more interesting at times - especially as the characters' relationships are cleverly mirrored amongst the wives.
